For those who want to know more about Grigory Rasputin, a wondering peasant who eventually exerted a powerful influence over Nicholas II and Aleksandra, the last Tsar and Tsarina of Imperial Russia. Last years of his life Rasputin spent in his apartments in the city center on Gorokhovaya street. From here on December 30, 1916 Rasputin went to the Yusupov palace to meet Prince Felix Yusupov Grand Duke Dmitry and Vladimir Purishkevich. Few hours later Grigory Rasputin was murdered. Ten weeks after his death the Romanov dynasty was overthrown during the Russian Revolution of 1917. Less than two years later, Nicholas and his entire family were executed.
Two rooms of the apartments are now turned into museum. Admission is possible by advance booking only.
