On January 27, 2018, Russia celebrates the 75th anniversary of the day when the Soviet Army breached the Siege of Leningrad. The new 3D panoramic museum dedicated to this day has been opened in Kirovsk, 15 km from St.Petersburg. The museum occupies a massive 600 square meter building and is supposed to be the biggest diorama in the world.
The exposition displays parts of the Soviet tanks, a variety of weapons, soldiers and commanders and even a German plane hovering above visitors' heads. Panorama tells the story of one day during Operation “Iskra” (“Spark”) when Russian soldiers carved a corridor in the Nazi’s defences around Leningrad after 1.5 years of blockade.
