Moscow is the capital of Russia situated in the European part of Russia on the banks of the Moskva River. Moscow was founded by Prince Yuiri Dolgoruky in 1147. Until 1712 it was the capital of old Russian State. In 1918 the city had once again became the nation's capital.

Nowadays Moscow is one of the largest cities in the world (more than 9 mln inhabitants). It is the political, cultural and economic center of Russia, seat of the Russian government and the embassies of foreign states, the location of major banks, educational and cultural institutions. Moscow has many hotels of the world standard, fine restaurants, nightclubs and casinos. The city has splendid architectural and cultural monuments of world significance.

Kremlin is considered to be the one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles in the world. It contains fine examples of Russian architecture of the 15-th to 17-th centuries. Kremlin territory locates the first Moscow museum the Armory Chamber displaying unique specimens of Russian and foreign applied art of the 12-th to 20-th centuries. Everyone visiting Moscow for the first time begins his or her acquaintance with the city on the Red Square. The main architectural detail of the square is the Cathedral of Intercession on the Moat which people renamed the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed (1555-1561). Among other places of interest are Novodevichy convent that contains wonderful relics of Russian culture of the 16-th and 17-th centuries, Pushkin museum of Fine Arts that displays marvelous collection of Western European paintings, State Tretyakov Gallery – the treasure house of 1000 thousand works of Russian pictorial arts and of course the world famous Bolshoi Opera and Ballet theatre. Visit Kolomenskoe estate – the residence of Russian princes and tzars and Kuskovo estate built for the richest Russian landowner count Sheremetyev.
